City police and 10 in marijuana raid
Ten persons were arrested by Elyria police on narcotics charges after a raid on a Middle Avenue home and a car stop. Officers found marijuana valued at 4 000 to 5 000 dollars, plus syringes and pipes. Charges ranged from possession for sale to possession, with several suspects named.

Bombing at Federal Building Kills IRS Worker in Los Angeles
An explosion on the second floor of the Federal Building in Los Angeles killed Thomas Ortiz an 18 year old IRS orderly. Guards with metal detectors failed to prevent the blast which blew a large hole in the wall and left little evidence about the explosive. Ortiz died en route to White Memorial Hospital. Police and FBI launched an investigation into the suspected waste paper receptacle bomb and the crime scene prompted evacuations of federal workers.
