Alyssa Milano signs with Columbia TriStar Television to produce and star in a new series next fall. The move follows her departure from Melrose Place as she spurs a fresh project with a major network.
Ohio Supreme Court Justice Andrew Douglas faced a scathing statement from Rosenbaum's attorneys calling him insolent and above the law. The panel had cleared Douglas in December after an ethics inquiry sparked by Rosenbaum’s oath-affidavit linking his firing to Douglas.
Amherst Township residents protest nude mannequins in Mat Bailey's All Make Beliefs shop. Bailey says mannequins were shown unclad last year to display work, drawing six complaints and prompting trustees to push for clothing coverings. The store opened July in Trading Post plaza on Route 113.
An explosion at the New Women's Health Clinic on Birmingham south side killed one person and injured two others. Fire Chief L D Miskelley confirmed the fatality and said the area was evacuated. A nurse and a police officer were hospitalized, with clinic windows blown out and damage seen across the street.
Columbus AP reports that leaders struck a behind the scenes agreement to revamp Ohio's school funding. The plan would lift guaranteed per pupil spending from 3,663 to 3,851 next year and to 4,414 in four years with inflation. It also boosts dollars for transportation special education gifted programs and all day kindergarten in urban and poor districts.
Elyria police detectives traveled to Tampa to question two former Elyria men tied to the 1996 shooting of Bradley Olmstead, owner of Hazel's Restaurant. Olmstead was found in his car with a bullet wound after an apparent accident on Cleveland Street early on November 18, 1996. The suspects, wanted on robbery charges, are not in custody.
