Edwin Newman retires from NBC after 35 years of service
The NBC veteran Edwin Newman, turning 65, plans to read, enjoy classical music and jazz, and spend more time with wife Rigel in London after leaving NBC. He recalls a long career marked by offbeat hours, a shift from prime time, and pivotal moments like anchoring coverage of Reagan’s 1981 attempt. He hopes to adapt to life without a steady host role and contemplates changes in his wardrobe and daily routine.
