Cooke blames faked tale on fear of failure
Janet Cooke, the former Washington Post reporter behind the bogus story on an eight year old junkie, says she fabricated the article out of fear of failing to produce a story. In a Donahue interview she admits ambition was not motive and expresses desire to write again and resume a normal life.
