A Chatham Township family of five Mr and Mrs Truman Anders and their three sons were left homeless when a fire destroyed their 75 year old two story farm home on County Road 45 north east of Chatham during Sunday noon services at Lodis Baptist Church. Firemen from Lodi arrived after a 6 mile trip and battled winds of 30 mph to prevent adjacent buildings from catching fire. The disease lost about 13000 in house and contents. The Red Cross appealed for clothing donations and the family planned to relocate to a furnished home offered by a neighbor.
