Fire guts Elyria home on 11th Street
A blaze at 319 11th St in Elyria early Wednesday gutted the residence. Fire crews arrived after 2 am to find heavy fire on the first floor and flames seen from a second story rear window. One person was in critical condition and two others were hospitalized. Jon Wysochanski identified among those affected. Assistant Chief James Cawley provided details.

Fire damages Lorain County home and occupants
On Thursday a home burned with windows boarded and a large condemned sign on the door. The property owned by Cindy Redel is valued at 53 040. Redel and her partner Mike Adams escaped and were treated at local hospitals. Redel remained in critical condition at MetroHealth Medical Center while Adams was discharged.

Man hit by deputy to receive 40000 settlement
Lorain County will pay Joe Reiger forty thousand dollars to settle a lawsuit over an August 12 2013 incident in which sheriff s deputy Donald McCurry struck him with a flashlight during a duty stop. The agreement includes a confidentiality clause and follows a 2014 probation for McCurry on assault and duty misconduct charges.
