Ford to Acquire Volvo Passenger Car Unit for 6.45 Billion

Ford Motor Co agreed to buy Volvo AB's passenger car division for 6.45 billion dollars, gaining three European plants and a Gothenburg development center. Ford will obtain rights to use the Volvo name for cars, minivans, SUVs and light trucks, subject to regulatory and stockholder approvals.
