New London plans May school levy and amendments
New London Board of Education moved to place a three year emergency operating levy on the May ballot, with a 5.5 to 6 mill rate expected to raise about $211,000 annually. A 1.6 mill permanent improvement renewal levy for capital projects was also approved for May. The board noted projected deficits, with red ink by mid to late 1988, and discussed funding adjustments including a transfer from the gas fuel account after a 3.6 percent cut to transportation funds.
