Blizzard disrupts area power and travel across Lorain County
A two day blizzard hobbles New London and Greenwich isolating areas as power failures hit pumping stations. Firelands Electric restored power by afternoon and a 20 truck convoy moved through New London. Milk pickups halted, cattle milking hampered, and a gas leak in a burning New London house required a National Guard helicopter. Ohio Edison crews work to restore power to about 350 customers amid drifting and blocked roads. A Jeep accident in Elyria injures a man who was treated at the hospital. Helicopters drop supplies in nearby counties while many remain without electricity.
