Boilers inspected in Ohio amid enforcement debate
ACT probe dangerous, Yost said the boiler program requires annual inspections for enclosed steam vessels with some three year intervals. Insurance company inspectors conduct about 76,000 yearly with state employees at about 10,000. State inspections mainly cover state owned boilers or those in self insured firms without licensed inspectors, plus apartment buildings and small businesses such as dry cleaners using steam. Many small operations lack liability insurance, triggering state checks. A CT spot check of area county and municipal buildings found several boilers.
