The Woman's Society of Christian Service met in Grafton as Rev Fred Stroeber outlined the upcoming evangelistic mission for February 22 to March 1. Mrs W G Reese hosted. plans included a mother daughter banquet in April and a cash gift to the Howser family.
Knot-a-Thread Quilt club met at Rose Grabenstetter's home with host Mrs. Grabenstetter serving dinner. Gifts were exchanged by two secret sisters. Irma Wise celebrated an anniversary and Anna Starr a birthday. The group will visit Mrs. Irma Wise on February 26.
Mrs. C L Lehman hosted the Belden Quilt Club gathering with dinner and a needlework session. Guests included Mrs Emma Kodpke of Lakewood and three husbands Bert Nesbett George Myers and Leon Lehman. February plans call for hosting at Mrs Alma Nesbett’s home.
Mrs Thelma Keating returns to LaPorte after three months with son Captain Dan Keating of the Air Force stationed near Aiunieh whire they have been for a year and a half. Other local residents Mr and Mrs Charles Sparks return to East Avenues after five years in Van Nuys California. A social meeting at Bruce Lane hosted by Mrs Earl Holrresk includes prayers, reports, and gift presentations as members discuss community affairs and upcoming events.
The Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church will conduct a religious census in Grafton during the first week of February to identify Protestant families without current church affiliation. The couple plans a Canada and Michigan honeymoon and will reside on Sugar Ridge Road in Elyria.
The Belden Firettes met in Grafton Township Hall with thirteen members. Minutes were read and approved. treasurer’s report given. Plans included purchasing serving trays for hostesses and funds-raising ideas to support firemen. Three guests attended. prizes awarded to several members. next meeting set at Eleanor Taylor’s home.
Dale Barber a Grafton High School senior was named among Ohio’s top ten in dramatics by Ohio University. He is noted as a leading state dramatic orator and will star in Elyria Playmaker’s upcoming Detective Story. He performs with the Grafton Kiwanis and other groups and is the son of Mrs. Larry Valerius.
Belden Mr and Mrs Norman Alexander report their son Pfc Donald Alexander has arrived in Korea. His address is Pfc Donald Alexander AT Co 7th Blar 1st Marine Division FMF care of a postmaster San Francisco California.
Catherine Klinect co hosted an event where Betty Chavalia and Gladys Giese provided refreshments. The gathering featured cordial hosting and hospitality as part of the social program.
