Bulletin from Shanghai reports Japan demands a satisfactory Chinese reply by 6 P.M. Thursday to its ultimatum. The notice was delivered to Wu-Teh-Chen, mayor of greater Shanghai, by Japanese Consul General Murai. The deadline is set for 5 A.M. local time.
Tokyo lists demands for Shanghai including ending the economic boycott against Japan the dissolution of anti Japanese associations and reparations for disturbances in Shanghai. It calls for apologies for Chinese press articles deemed insulting to the Emperor and Japan.
Admiral Koichi Shiosawa told UPI aboard the flagship Ataka that Japan has final instructions and Chinese promises are never fulfilled. Shanghai braces for possible bombardment and occupation of all but foreign settlements as the ultimatum nears.
Lorain County Automobile Club plans election of six directors for three year terms at its annual dinner meeting at St Pauls church on Third street Friday night. A new club constitution and by laws will be adopted since incorporation. Discussion will cover owner problems with speakers Chalmers R Wilson state motor vehicle commissioner and Nolin Hathaway from the Brown office. Open to all automobile owners including nonmembers. many women expected.
At midnight a car was struck by a passenger train at the Pennsylvania railroad crossing near West Alexandria Ohio. Victims were Alva Metdenhall aged 21 of West Alexandria and Stanley Williams aged 19 of near Lewisburg.

Preliminary plans adopted at Elyria Chamber of Commerce to organize a Lorain County Taxpayers League. The group aims to cut public expenses and taxes and educate residents on tax matters while cooperating with county, township, and city officials. An executive committee of 15 will run initial work, selected by a three person committee.
William Wrigley Jr. a famed gum magnate and philanthropist died in Phoenix yesterday. Funeral services are at his Pasadena home at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow with family and business associates. Burial at All Saints Episcopal will precede vault placement while mausoleum on Catalina Island is prepared as final resting place.
Bertha Philpott appeared before Common Pleas Judge A R Webber and pled not guilty to an indictment charging manslaughter. Bond set at $5000 pending trial. attorney Robert Rice accompanied her.

Gar Wood of Detroit set a new world speed record in a motor boat by averaging 110.78 miles per hour aboard Miss America IX on Indian Creek Miami Beach. The previous record of 110.223 mph was held by Kaye Don of England at Lake Garda, Italy.
Justice James E. Robinson of the Ohio Supreme Court died at Mt Carmel Hospital in Columbus at age 63 after about ten days of illness. He had been hospitalized since January 16 for heart disease and passed away at 11:00 a.m. today.
The Senate Banking and Currency committee approved a favorable report on Charles G. Dawes Jesse H. Jones and Harvey C. Couch for directors of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation. The full Senate is expected to act on the nominations tomorrow.
Speaker Garner and Vice President Curtis signed the $500 million revolving fund appropriation for the Reconstruction Finance Corporation. The measure moves to the White House for President Hoover's signature.

The court of appeals affirmed a $35,000 judgment by the state tax commission against Mrs Anna L Stark Lavelle formerly of Elyria now of Cleveland. The case arose from her husband's estate of about $500,000 and involved the assessment by Pro hete Judge H C Wilcox when she left the estate. The lower court and common pleas upheld the tax.
A 35 mile per hour wind struck Cleveland early today driving temperatures from 45 to 35 degrees in a few hours.
Miss Bertha Philpott aged 65 of Cleveland Street, along with Nick Vidos of Lorain and Milan Kezele of Barberton, were indicted for manslaughter in separate fatal auto accidents. The grand jury, after a six day session, returned 44 cases with 26 indictments and 17 ignored cases.
