Man killed pal and forged death to claim $53,000

Max Eddy Joseph, 47, allegedly killed a traveling companion and used the victim’s identity to claim insurance benefits after the car was burned on U.S. Highway 441 south of Orlando in August 1981. He was arrested in New York after a yearlong statewide search and faces murder charges in Osceola County Florida.

Gas leak stalls Challenger maiden flight at Cape Canaveral

NASA officials warn a tiny hydrogen leak found during a test firing in Challenger's main engine compartment could delay the five day maiden mission and possibly push back the entire shuttle program including the Skylab plan. Lt Gen Abrahamson says replacements may involve the shuttle Columbia and that full analysis will take time to determine the problem's scope.
