State Health Department Shaken Up in Ohio Reorg
Ohio undergoes a complete reorganization of the Health Department with 20 units abolished and eight new divisions created. R H Markwith, state health director, says the changes take effect February 1 and aim to boost efficiency. Four long time division heads lose their jobs as the new structure adds education programs for cancer and pneumonia control, appendicitis prevention, aging diseases, eye health for newborns, and environmental sanitation. New divisions include Adult Hygiene, Audits and Statistics, Child Hygiene, Dental, Engineering, Laboratory, Legal, and Nursing with various chiefs and acting heads named and salaries listed.
