Elyria man indicted for felonious assault on state trooper
Cornelious Carey Jr., 44, was indicted on felonious assault and charges of obstructing official business resisting arrest and three counts of kidnapping after allegedly striking Trooper Lance Deshuk and biting part of his ear during a welfare check near LaGrange on January 11. Carey remains jailed in Lorain County on $1 million bond.

Drunken disorderly man charged after bicycle fall report
In the blotter for January 22 officers arrested David Scheutzow, 47, on drunken disorderly conduct after a man reportedly fell from a bicycle on West River Road. He showed slurred speech and red eyes, then was detained at the Lorain County Sheriff's Office. A separate case notes Lee Speer, 46, charged with obstruction of official business and driving under suspension after a traffic stop on Lake Avenue revealed warrants. A window was reported smashed on Roosevelt Avenue but ownership could not be determined.
