A Norfolk and Western tank car carrying 19,000 gallons of muriatic acid derailed near Clarksfield, within 120 feet of the Vermilion River. Officials shut Wakeman and Vermilion water supplies, with Vermilion restored at 7:30 am and Wakeman remaining off. Tests showed river water safe with pH normal, but authorities remained vigilant.
