Junior Achievement Program Shaped Elyria Youths Since 1951
The JA program uses learning by doing with high school students. In Elyria it began in 1951, funded by the Kiwanis Club, later housed at 125 Yorkshire Ct in 1956 with Kiwanis support, then run by a community board after 1958. The 10 month course runs October to April with sales, banking, and manufacturing tasks, overseen by volunteer advisers from local industries. Awards honor outstanding students, advisers, and top companies.
