Death ends busy career of Elyria leader Arthur Garford
Funeral services for Arthur Lovett Garford 74 will be held Friday at the Congregational Church with Dr W Muir Auld officiating. The Elyria industrialist died at his home after a day of business in Cleveland, age 74. He led multiple companies including American Lace, Electro Alloys and Cleveland Automatic Machine, served as a university trustee, and supported Y M C A and hospital work. He championed the Bull Moose movement and later backed Hoover. Survived by wife Mary two daughters Katharine Thomas and Emanuele Lavagnino a brother and three sisters and a grandson.
