Ownership dispute over S and J Bar on East 28th Street

The Lorain bar, tied to John A. Gay and Ellis Vasu, is at the center of a questioning ownership fight. Gay, jailed on narcotics charges, has sworn he is part owner. Cernan Rescued After Copter Crash During Training

Astronaut Eugene A. Cernan backup commander for Apollo 14 crashed a helicopter into the Indian River during a solo training flight near Patrick Air Force Base Florida. He was rescued by sheriff’s deputies and examined at Patrick AFB Hospital with no injuries reported. Cernan, who flew Gemini 9 in 1956 and Apollo 10 in 1969, was not on a mission at the time.

Poisonous halogeton blamed for Utah sheep deaths

In a Utah grazing area, 1180 sheep died after eating halogeton, a common scrubby plant. Officials confirmed oxalate in animal tissues and ruled out radiation or gas as causes. Dr Wayne Binns of USDA poison plant lab at Utah State University called halogeton poisoning the diagnosis.

Burglary Suspects Nabbed After Snow Trail Lead

Lorain County deputies traced footprints through snow to a car with three Elyria Township juveniles charged with breaking and entering. Officers recovered trading stamps, a .38 revolver, a hunting knife, and improvised masks from the car and trunk.
