Animal House spinoffs capitalize on movie success
Hollywood notes that Animal House earned about 50 million dollars and spurred a campus humor revival. TV networks plan college humor shows and comedies by producers like Martin Ransohoff, with Co ed Fever and an NBC Brothers and Sisters adaptation in the works. The piece also links influences from Saturday Night Live and Steve Martin to the trend.

Ransohoff on Co-ed Fever predated Animal House premise
Ransohoff describes developing a CBS comedy about an all girl campus converting to coeducation titled Co-ed Fever. He cites inspiration from Smith and Vassar styles, notes a 13 week CBS commitment, and emphasizes a broad, tasteful approach with younger casting and living houses. The show aims to explore campus culture without vulgarity.
