Property tax bills in the mail amid rate shifts
Lorain County Auditor Mark Stewart said tax bills reflect district shifts with Amherst facing steep jumps due to a November emergency levy and abated homes. Oberlin and Wellington districts may see lower bills as levies expire. Stewart warned values fell since 2006 and will be reassessed, while taxpayers can appeal valuations to the Board of Revision. Talarek said 148 225 bills went out and about 171.3 million dollars is to be collected for mid 2008.
