Government plans clinical tests for 12 drugs on children
The U S government announced it will start year long clinical testing on 12 widely prescribed medicines for children though adult testing exists. Health secretary Tommy Thompson stressed children react differently to drugs and called for immediate testing to understand effects in kids. Drugs named include azithromycin and baclofen. Dr Jane Orient questioned if most items should be tested in children.
