Review notes Ric Ocasek’s Beatitude echoes the Cars in tempo and synth textures. Uptempo tracks aim for radio, with quirky sounds but feel bloodless overall. Highlights include Jimmy Jimmy and Something to Grab For which resemble classic Cars tunes.
The review critiques the Cars album Out of Control as rich in nervous energy and electronic textures but emotionally inert. It notes Ocasek's shift toward synths, calling the work overly efficient and largely adolescent in tone, with few memorable moments such as Connect Up to Me and Jimmy Jimmy. It contrasts fan appeal with the critic’s sense of emptiness, while mentioning related acts and upcoming shows at Cleveland Music Hall and Richfield Coliseum.
