Fire indirectly fatal for Elyria man on Bridge Street
Lorain County Coroner Dr. Paul Matus said a house fire at 105 Bridge Street in Elyria early Saturday indirectly caused the death of 73-year-old William B. Taylor. Fire began from a cigarette lighter in Taylor’s third floor apartment. he was found in a car after being awakened by the blaze. He died at 3:10 a.m. after firefighters battled heavy smoke and fire. Red Cross aided displaced residents.

Girl, 9, dies in car crash on I 480 ramp
A 9 year old girl died after a car lost control on an entrance ramp to Interstate 480 and plunged down an embankment at the Lorain Cuyahoga County line. She was airlifted to MetroHealth Medical Center but died there. Her name was not released pending family notification.
