Danger in use of Halothane
A review of operations at University of Iowa College of Medicine and other centers finds only one death possibly linked to Halothane liver damage among tens of thousands of cases. Researchers say no evidence shows Halothane causes more subclinical liver injury than other anesthetics, but a small risk of fatal liver poisoning remains theoretical. NIH plans a larger follow up of up to 100000 Halothane patients to clarify risks.
