Wellington BPA Pump Keeps Water Flowing to Reservoirs

Wellington's Board of Public Affairs reports ample water for village use and for private haulers as pumping into the upper reservoir continues. About 530,000 gallons daily are pumped from Charte Mont Creek with borrowed equipment, while 300,000 gallons are distributed. The system operates 24 hours a day while supply lasts, and the dam and pipeline are kept in place indefinitely to tap the creek as snow and ice melt. Water levels are at a multi-year low, with the south reservoir near 14 feet down, the lowest since 1983.34, due to little rainfall and a slow January thaw. Hawk notes haulers dependent on other sources may face restrictions if shortages worsen.
