County house numbering urged across Lorain County

Lorain County trustees and clerks backed a plan to adopt a uniform rural house numbering system. The proposed Cleveland style scheme would assign numbers by distance from Cleveland for east west roads and from the lake for north south roads, enabling rural areas to qualify for better fire insurance rates. Local postmasters supported testing the plan, with questions about diagonal roads left to arbitrary local decisions. The measure awaits county commissioners' action.
