Goebel edges Weir Savoie Weiss in U S Figure short program

Tim Goebel held off rising skaters Johnny Weir and Matt Savoie to win the men’s short program at the U S Figure Skating Championships while Michael Weiss faded to fourth. Weir impressed with a strong triple lutz and combo, and Savoie showed a big triple axel despite knee issues.

OSU to celebrate national title with stadium event

Ohio State will celebrate its national championship with a 45 minute ceremony at Ohio Stadium on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. Gates open at 11 a.m. The free event will have about 16,000 student seats reserved while general seating is first come, first served. Officials urge early arrival as seating is limited and there is no overflow location. Athletic director Andy Geiger asked fans to attend.
