Appellate ruling reinstates domestic violence case in Elyria
The Ninth District Court of Appeals ordered the reinstatement of a domestic violence case against Otis Lewis 29 of Lake Avenue after local judge Edward Zaleski dismissed the charges citing a Supreme Court rule. Prosecutors said they could proceed without the victim's testimony. Lewis's attorney plans to appeal to the Ohio Supreme Court.

In Elyria a former Dillard Department Store employee at Midway Mall, Lisa Marie Alflen, 32, Avon Lake, pled guilty to theft after admitting to falsifying 116 return slips and stealing about 12000 dollars between October 14, 1996 and May 26, 1997. Police investigated irregular return slips and mismatched names on drivers licenses in the customer service area.
