Parity drives second Midwest tractorcade to Washington
Frustrated farmers on tractors and pickups moved across the Midwest in a second pilgrimage toward Washington to urge Congress to implement 90 percent parity loan policy. AAM coordinator Mike McCathern said caravans from Texas Oklahoma Kansas North Dakota and Ohio would join others in Mitchell South Dakota and North Platte Nebraska. If successful the policy would lift loan support to 90 percent of parity, otherwise many small farmers fear going deeper into debt as snow and cold slow progress.
