ECOT closure threatens online students in Ohio
The Ohio sponsor plans to suspend ECOT's operations as the state seeks about 60 million dollars in disputed funding. The dispute centers on attendance records, with ECOT claiming 920 hours of learning opportunities sufficed while state officials demand detailed daily engagement data. If the school closes, about 110 Elyria residents and 140 Lorain district students face transfers and disrupted schooling.

Inflation target debate shows limits of economics
Washington Post columnist Robert Samuelson argues against a 4 percent inflation target proposed by some economists and even Federal Reserve officials. He notes past policy mistakes, the Fed's role in stabilizing prices and employment, and warns that rushing to bold new programs could worsen outcomes. He cites Volcker Greenspan and Bernanke as examples of prudent management.
