Judge sues Herald reporter over libel in rape case
Judge Ernest B Murphy sues the Boston Herald and four writers for libel over February 2002 coverage alleging lenient sentences for a 17 year old in New Bedford crimes including rape and armed robbery. He cites hate mail and threats after the article quoted or implied remarks about a 14 year old victim. The trial is set for Wednesday.
