U.S. posts December surplus aided by Fannie Mae Freddie Mac
The Treasury reports a 53.2 billion December surplus the largest for the month on record helped by nearly 40 billion in payments from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. For the first three months of the budget year a 173.6 billion deficit compares 40.8 percent below last year's level.
