Four U S airmen die in German KC 135 crash near Geilenkirchen
A U S Air Force KC 135 refueling plane from Washington state crashed during final approach near Geilenkirchen Germany two miles from the NATO base killing all four crew members. Firefighters from the Netherlands and Germany brought the blaze under control after about three hours. No ground injuries were reported and NATO investigators began examining the incident. The aircraft was deployed from Fairchild Air Force Base to support NATO reconnaissance missions.
