Firefighters scrambled Sunday to make progress against wildfires that have destroyed thousands of homes and caused 24 deaths in the Los Angeles area, as crews fought to contain fast moving flames near residential districts.
Red flag warnings from the National Weather Service warn of dangerous fire conditions through Wednesday with sustained winds near 50 mph and gusts up to 70 mph in the mountains.
