Nineteen Apalachin delegates were sentenced to three to five years and fines of 10,000 dollars each by Federal Judge Irving R. Kaufman. He called their rehabilitation prospects extremely poor as they have built a “career of ease.” The convicts had been found guilty of conspiring to obstruct justice by concealing the purpose of the meeting at Joseph Barbara Sr.’s hilltop estate on November 14, 1957.
