The government named hundreds of mills foundries and factories that worked on nuclear weapons during the Cold War to help identify workers who may qualify for compensation for on the job exposure. Ohio had 37 sites on the list.

Pickup Hits Bus Sparks Fire Injuring 3 in Ohio
A pickup truck rear ended a school bus on U.S. 35 near Fayette County, Ohio, setting both vehicles on fire and injuring three people in the pickup. Four children and the bus driver were uninjured. The driver Daniel Harvey Jr. and passenger Michael Griffith, both Dayton residents, were hospitalized with conditions not yet listed. A third passenger Carlos Linder Jr. of Dayton was treated and released. Counselors aided students at Jeffersonville Elementary as another bus arrived.

First baby handed to Cincinnati newborn program
A mother left a newborn girl at Mercy Franciscan Hospital Western Hills in Cincinnati under the Secret Safe Place for Newborns program, the first use since the program started in August. The infant, wrapped in a Tshirt and towel, was unharmed and no names were requested. The county took temporary custody, with a juvenile court hearing set to determine permanent custody and potential adoption in about 90 days.

Wooster School District Settles Death of Student
The Wooster City School District settled a wrongful death suit with Francine Hayhurst’s family for 45 000 in Akron federal court. Hayhurst 14 died after a 1997 Geauga Lake amusement ride ride during a Edgewood Middle School field trip. The district says no liability was found and the mother still pursues a suit against Six Flags.
