ODNR announces first come reservations for Lake Erie cabents and a rustic cottage at South Bass Island State Park. Weekly rentals run Memorial Day weekend to late September with a one week minimum, deposits of 100 dollars, and rates of 442 and 572 dollars per week. Reservations may be made up to a year in advance through the park office in Port Clinton.

Ohio wildlife council eyes expanded spring turkey hunt and longer fall season
Ohio officials propose expanding the 2002 spring turkey season from three to four weeks and extending the fall season to 16 days in selected counties, with bearded turkeys allowed in spring and a statewide limit of two birds. The plan raises the statewide turkey population to over 200,000 and adds Ashtabula Geauga Licking and Trumbull to counties open for fall hunting. A public hearing is set for March 22 in Columbus with final council action in April.
