Group therapy helps unwed mothers with medical students
In Indianapolis at the Suemma Coleman Maternity Home, senior medical students join weekly group sessions with unwed mothers to discuss problems, relationships, and pregnancy. Dr. Holdread notes therapy aids both girls and doctors as they explore reasons for pregnancy and coping strategies. One former resident, Susan, describes personal insight gained through private and group sessions. The program, begun after women expressed a desire to talk with male doctors, continues alongside private counseling.
