Elyria Schools to seek $6 million operating levy in May
Elyria Board of Education voted unanimously to place a 10-year emergency levy of 4.9 mills that would raise about $6.4 million per year on the May 6 primary ballot. If approved, tax collections would begin in 2026 to fund daily operations amid rising expenses and a projected five-year deficit. School bus struck during chase by fleeing driver
Lorain woman Alyssa Tropkoff, 27, was charged with felony fleeing, leaving the scene of an accident, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and other offenses after a noninjury crash involving a Lorain Schools bus and an SUV. Police pursued the maroon Kia Optima before ending the chase in Sheffield.
