Lorain council rejects limestone grinding mill proposal

The Lorain City Council, by an 8 to 2 vote, refused to rezone Riverbend Commerce Park for a limestone grinding mill by Oglebay Norton, declining a public hearing and jeopardizing about a dozen well paying jobs and over $1 million in land sale revenue despite backing from the Planning Commission and EPA. Local critics and Mayor Krasienko condemn the decision as a harmful message to employers and a lost opportunity for industrial growth.
