Lorain man gets 1 year in prison for teen's death
Lorain man Carl Mercer received a one year prison term after pleading no contest to aggravated vehicular homicide and drunken driving in the 1999 death of 18 year old Christina Johnson. Johnson fell from Mercer's moving car in Amherst. The judge questioned why Johnson and another woman rode on the back of the vehicle at 1 a.m. Mercer was released on a 5000 dollar appeal bond pending an appellate ruling on police probable cause.
