Midview High Leads Northern Ohio Forensic League
Midview High School boasts the largest National Forensic League chapter in northern Ohio and is the only Lorain County school with a chapter. In 1961 Midview was accepted after former teachers Edgar Duncan and Paul Grosjean applied in 1960. Current membership is 37 students. They hold Saturday tournaments from late September to March, travel to Akron and eastern Cleveland schools, and compete in debate on a national topic. The season features four-member teams, eight minute pro speaks, four minute rebuttals, cross examination, and a 10 to 15 minute open debate. The league offers five individual events, including original oratory. The Midview chapter meets twice a month with a Thursday workshop, under faculty adviser Ned Lyons.
