Ward redistricting plan prompts partisan debate in Elyria
A historic analysis of Elyria ward re alignment shows Republicans aiming to shift roughly 2,100 GOP voters into the new Seventh Ward and 1,300 GOP plus 900 Democratic voters into the new Seventh, while trimming the First Ward’s edge. The plan splits precincts to create safer margins for the GOP and draw Democratic strength into a minority ward. Debate rages over whether presidential results reliably forecast local council votes.
