Ex-boxer Carmine Vingo Calls Boxing Deadly and Dismisses Return
Carmine Vingo, 22, who nearly died in a boxing accident two years ago, denounces boxing as dangerous and hollow. He lashes out at promoters, recalls broken promises of a benefit, and says the public wants blood while he now works as a Bronx machinist with mixed recovery and little desire to return to the ring. He blames the sport for suffering and reflects on his friendship with Marciano.
