Celeste Condemns Abortion Clinic Fires as Sabotage

In Cleveland Gov. Celeste joins women's rights advocates in denouncing a series of fires at Ohio abortion clinics. Firebombs hit Margaret Sanger and Women's Health Care in Cincinnati on Dec. 30 causing about 75000 dollars in damage each. Toledo Medical Services Inc. was also attacked. Officials stress no conclusive link to antiabortion groups yet label the acts as deliberate terrorism and call for accountability.

Barbara Koehler Elected Clerk of Fairview Council

Barbara Koehler won a 4 3 vote to become the Fairview Park council clerk replacing Rosalie Karaba who served two years. Koehler previously held the post from 1980 to 1984, while council members praised Karaba’s tenure and the need for stable administrative leadership. The meeting also named eight committee chairmen for 1986 87 and elected Cook president pro tem as Patton leaves the Board of Appeals.

Hospitals face off as doctors pay for malpractice insurance

St Paul Insurance, the nation’s largest malpractice insurer, began requiring north eastern Ohio hospitals to carry $1 million liability coverage for staff physicians. At Deaconess and Southwest General, doctors protested while citing a burden on hospitals to insure physicians.
