Lorain ex‑schools chief Calta critically injured in crash

Former Lorain Schools Superintendent Joseph F Calta, 72, was trapped briefly after his car left West Erie Avenue, struck a tree, then rolled over. He was hospitalized in critical condition with a fractured leg and multiple traumas. Calta, who led the district 1966 to 1975, had joined the Lorain schools in 1946. A witness said he slumped before the impact and police cited him for failure to control. Dog found in the ad.
