Architects Fox Duthe and Foose presented preliminary plans for the new Allen school on Abbey Road. The colonial red brick building would start with eight classrooms, plus space and design provisions to expand to sixteen, with a basement boiler and coal room, a two floor layout, movable partitioned rooms, and options for future auditorium. The plan includes linoleum floors, quiet Gilsonite first floor, ten foot corridors, and provisions for buzzer, radio, motion picture plug, and vacuum systems. Construction aims to begin March 1 and finish for September occupancy, financed from the board building fund.

Fire destroys Lima courthouse. two firefighters die
Firefighters battled the Allen County courthouse blaze in Lima as debris diggings recovered Fire Captain John Wolfe and Fireman Fisher, with Fisher later found. The fire prompted a $44,000 bond issue for more equipment after a controversially voted expansion. An overturned radiator caused the blaze on the third floor, initially thought to be a plumber’s torch. Prisoners were moved from the county jail as flames consumed the old building and records were believed saved, though some were lost.
