NRG plans 20 mile gas pipeline to Avon Lake plant
NRG seeks to convert the Avon Lake coal plant to natural gas via a 20 mile pipeline from south of Grafton to the plant. The project may seek eminent domain on 63 properties to obtain easements after failed negotiations. The route includes 50 foot permanent easements and temporary access, with 67 acres to be cleared and 2 metering stations along the line. Dominion East Ohio would supply and operate the tap-in, while Ohio Power Siting Board filings note 155 parcels affected, 36 granted, and 56 near completion.
