14 Missing After New England Fire
Firemen search the smoldering Professional Building in Westfield Massachusetts for 14 missing residents after a $1,000,000 blaze destroyed the five story structure. Most missing are elderly with one seven year old among them. Police and Red Cross list the 14 as residents from third and fourth floor apartments. Officer James H. Mrs. Mary Krieg, 27, of 158 Lake Avenue, was treated at Elyria Memorial Hospital after her car left Graf ton road near Indian Hollow, 1 miles south of Elvrra, struck mailboxes then fell into a creek. Man Arrested For Throwing Garbage On Highway
Thomas York of Vermilion was arrested by Sheriff Edward Gawlik after a Route 254 west of Abbe Road sighting. York offered no satisfactory explanation, and was ordered to collect the litter along the highway. The incident followed a fatal oil line fire at Shall Oil Co. pipeline resulting in Charles Swatsler’s death. Ke Johnson Jr. of Ashland, Ky., died two days after the fire.
